Ground, coated, and finished in one day. Walk on it in six hours, park on it in twenty-four, and it will not yellow in the Georgia sun.
A polyaspartic floor coating in Columbus solves the two things people dislike about epoxy: the wait and the yellowing. It is a polyurea-family resin that cures in hours instead of days, holds its color under direct sunlight, and goes down in weather that would ruin an epoxy install. We use it as a full system on garages and as the topcoat over flake and metallic floors on almost every job we run.
Everything starts at the concrete. We diamond grind the slab, chase and fill cracks with a rigid filler, then vacuum the dust out with HEPA equipment so nothing contaminates the bond line. No acid etching. Etching leaves residue and never opens the surface evenly.
Then a polyaspartic base coat goes down, decorative flake gets broadcast into it if you chose a flake floor, and the excess is scraped and vacuumed once it sets. A clear polyaspartic topcoat finishes the floor. Because each coat kicks in about two hours, the whole sequence fits inside one working day — typically 7am to mid-afternoon on a two-car garage.
One detail worth knowing: polyaspartic sets on a clock, not on your schedule. Once the parts are mixed, the crew is committed. That is why it is a bad DIY product and why crew size matters more than it does with epoxy.
Four situations make the choice obvious. Sunlight reaching the floor is the first — an open west-facing garage door on Whitesville Road in August will amber a standard epoxy within a couple of seasons. Second is a short window: PCS timelines around Fort Benning, a house going on the market, a shop that cannot lose three days of bay time.
Third is mid-summer scheduling. Columbus dew points sit in the low to mid 70s through July, and epoxy applied into that can blush, stay soft, or cure cloudy. Polyaspartic handles it.
Fourth is heavy wear. Polyaspartic is more abrasion resistant and more flexible than epoxy, so it takes hot tire contact and dropped tools with less damage.

Two mechanisms, and both are avoidable. The first is amine blush. You get a floor that peels in sheets a year later, and nobody can tell you why.

Epoxy is thicker per coat, cheaper, and better at filling minor surface imperfections. It needs 24 hours between coats, 72 hours before vehicles, and it will amber where sun hits it. Good for basements, storage rooms, and interior spaces with no daylight.
Polyaspartic costs 30 to 40 percent more, cures in hours, resists UV completely, and handles heat and humidity during install. Better for garages, patios, anything with sun exposure, and any job where downtime is expensive.
